The Classical Pilates repertoire is comprised of exercises designed to address the whole body so that range and ease of movement, flexibility, and strength is achieved in a balanced way. However, not anyone can perform pilates exercises correctly without embodying essential movement skills-especially students with specialized needs. We teach progressive, awareness based movement skills that have practical, functional, real life application. Tasks like sitting, climbing stairs, picking up young children / pets or lifting heavy objects can be achieved pain free.
We highly recommend Private Sessions for students who have kyphosis, scoliosis, osteoporosis or osteoarthritis. In general, we do not encourage flexion and limited flexion under load. We routinely customize and adjust the repertoire in our specialized groups to suit the unique bodies that we are guiding. Students build strength in a knowledgeable, safe and supportive environment.
The Classical method broadly focuses on uniform development. We teach movement as dynamic and interconnected. Classical pilates is proven to provide an excellent vehicle designed to achieve and sustain good, pain free posture.
